Governing Body The Governing Body of Alma Primary School consists of parents and representatives from the LEA, the community and school staff. They act as the critical friend to the school providing the checks and balances, approving policies and ensuring compliance with legislation. Governors have an important role to play in the life of a school. Each governor attends committees which help monitor and prepare policies for issues such as finance, school improvement, premises, appointments and the curriculum. Governors are chosen or elected because they are representative of a group rather than to represent that group. This means that any suggestions about school, or any complaints, for example, should be taken directly to the Head Teacher rather than the parent governors. Parent Governors are elected by parents and stand for four years. A full list of governors can be found in the school prospectus. | Absence Line: 07950 08 06 08 (Text line only)
