Every Child Matters
As educators and carers, our responsibility begins and ends with the welfare, security and development of each child. As a school we are committed to delivering the five outcomes of the Every Child Matters agenda which are;
Being healthy: The PE curriculum provides children with regular physical activities. We offer a range of extra curricular clubs including; rugby, football, netball and multi-skills. We promote healthy eating both in the curriculum, and around school in our approach to school meals.
Staying safe: Children are encouraged to talk about their feelings and concerns with staff at school. Opportunities for speaking and sharing in class are provided during circle time. The school learning mentor liaises with the head teacher and staff to monitor pupils who may be experiencing problems.
Enjoying and achieving: Children experience success on a number of levels at school, they are encouraged top work independently to experience personal success, and collaboratively to contribute to the success of a team effort. Rewards and Certificates are presented to children in special Reward assemblies.
Making a positive contribution: Community based projects such as ‘SMASH' give children the opportunity to identify issues in their local area, and work with relevant professionals to offer solutions. Children are also actively involved in running events in school such as the Easter Fair. They are provided with a forum to air their views through the schools council.
Economic well-being: Promoting and developing financial well being within the school has been greatly supported by the presence of volunteers from our business partners Ernst and Young. Children are encouraged to save, and have an understanding of the business world.
