About Alma

We hope this website will help you to know more about our school. Its purpose is to present you with some basic information which will help you understand Alma Primary. More detailed guidance can be found in the detailed policies which shape our school. If you want any further information please ask and we will do all we can to help.

We are proud of our school. It serves an area of high-rise flats and individual houses and children come from a wide cultural mix. We welcome children from all ethnic communities. We are a non-denominational school and celebrate the richness of the communities we represent.

The aims of our school

  • The school aims to create a friendly and positive learning environment.
  • We want all children to realise their full potential, with eagerness, confidence and enjoyment.
  • We have high expectations of ourselves and the children we teach
  • We aim to raise the level of achievement and self-esteem in everybody.
  • We want all children, staff, parents and governors to be valued.
  • We aim to recognise the achievements of every child whether they be academic, physical, social and spiritual or emotional.

    Classes at Alma

Alma is a single form entry school. This means that there is only one class in each year group.

Classes are known by their year group. i.e. Reception, Year One, Year Two etc.

There are 11 teachers, twelve non teaching staff including support assistants, learning assistants, midday supervisors, maintenance staff and a learning mentor. The team spirit and sense of togetherness makes Alma an attractive place to work.

In 2006 Alma gained Investors in People Accreditation.
